  • May 6, 2018: The "smarts" behind our system have been accepted as a paper in the ACM KDD 2018 conference, which is the premier international forum for data mining researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to share ideas, research results and experiences.

  • December 5, 2017: New settings are available for PittGrub users! Now, users can adjust the likelihood of event invitations from their profile page. Also, users have the option to inform PittGrub whether they are members of The Pitt Pantry. Users who are members of The Pitt Pantry have an increased likelihood of receiving event notifications.

  • October 16, 2017: Beta testing for PittGrub mobile app begins! To help test during the beta period, please request an invite and verify your account.

How PittGrub Works

  • An event is created with a listing of available food (usually after the event is over).
  • Users are notified based on their preferences.
  • Instead of the leftovers being thrown out, event hosts can put it to much better use. This food typically cannot be "rescued", since it has already been served.
